After spending about five minutes looking for clear signs that this was a hoax, I did a bit of Googling. I found these sources which convince me this is infact a green backed heron and they sometimes do this. Just like the baboons modifying twigs to fish for termites that I remember learning about as a youngster, this shows that humans are not quite so unique as our predeliction would have us think. Perhaps in a few (hundred thousand) generations of natural selection, the birds will build helicopters to get around in and eat unhealthy high-fat processed fish diets.
