I've been steam cleaning my rug this morning, and every muscle in my back and arms are sore because this machine is so damn huge and heavy!

Shit that really sucks Angel.  Perhaps you should think about have a warmest bath before you go to bed.  Help you sleep better and the muscles to relax.

*snatches Ketana's cookie away*  You can't have that!  Sounds like a nice afternoon.  I'm going to get off work a little earlier today and finish up my Christmas shopping, and I have no idea what anybody wants, because nobody knows what they want, so this should be fun.

Aww, poor Ketana.  Did you stay home from work today?  You need to get over that other thing.  When you told me  about that surgery, I was like, OMG!  Just rest up so ya can come back and be your unusual self.

Just go home, if it's not your day to work, then the scheduled people have to try and make it in or they declare a snow day, it's not your problem.

So I had the day off and took the mater and the sister off to the Maul..what a day..oh I remind me that I HATE MACY'S! Well anyhoo loaded down with gift cards and a bit of ambition we took off shopping..suffice it to say I got the cutest black velvet gloves with fur trim..fuck peta! and I love them..sis got a pair also, the mater oogled herself a cute white hat and that was added to the purchases and my sis found this great black leather hat at 12bucks and it looked absolutely adorable on her so that also was purchased..all in all not so bad of a haul..but oh I hate the Maul..I much prefer to shop via catalog and internet..so my day was not so bad..*admires her new gloves*

OMG, Ketana! All over the city? If it was one leak somewhere, how could it affect the whole city?  My gawd, that's dangerous! There'd be like a city wide explosion!  Run the hell out of there in those manolos!

I stayed home today, had a touch of the bug this morning, so I slept in for a few hours and feel better.

Well the Mayor came on and said there 'was no danger' and they still don't know where the gas smell came from, and there's no reported leaks anywhere, and now the smell has disappeared.....so just another mystery in the Big Apple....

Oh good, I'm glad you got it sorted.  Yeah I hope too one day very soon dentistary will be pain free and some day over here there will be dentist that don't just want make money out of you by fucking your teeth up.

I really do need a dentist but I just don't trust them.  I've been asking around but ppl either tell you they don't go to the dentist or they tell you that their dentist is crappy too:(

Well take care now Ketena:)

It never rain but it pours.  I've been up all night because basically my central heating is fucked up again.  So I've got dressed as it really cold here.  I just hope my pipes don't freeze in this cold weather or it don't snow again.  I hope the boiler ppl will come out today, as they don't seem to do weekends.

I've been unable to use the sink, bathroom or washing  machine for week as my drain was block, but that's now been sorted.

Now my mobile phone has died.  I've got a hospital investigation next Tuseday and really could do with my phone as I got to get someone to pick me up as they will not allow me to go home on my own:(

My neighbour said she might be able to pick me up, if not I have to wait like 3 or 4 hours for my sister to get finish work so she can come get me:(, so like I said it never rains but it pours.

Currant mood, I feel like screaming and shouting but I'll do niether.  In any case I don't wish to distrub next doors children or her 3 dogs.

Use the phone at the doctor's office, DFG, most will let patient use one.  Man, it has poured on you this week, sorry to hear about all the problems you've been having.  I hope the repair people come and get that heat fixed, you don't want to be without heat in that cold!

I just had a really big scare with my mom.  She's elderly and had to keep sitting down this morning and was complaining of hot flashes, then for a moment her right arm went straight out and her eyes rolled back while I was on the phone with 911.  The paramedics came and checked her out, they think it may have been her blood pressure, but it sure scared the crap out of me.  She's very stubborn and refusing to go into the doctor, but I'll get her to go, so I'm taking off work and keeping an eye on her today.  I think my blood pressure and heart rate went through the roof when this was happening, it sure scared the crap out of me that this was happening to her.

I'm not going to doctor's surgrey, I'm going into hospital, a rather large one at that.  It's new too.  You can get lost in there.  Anyway they will never let you use their phone, instead you have to travel miles to try and find a pay phone and then there's usally a huge que.  It's just alot pissing about.  That's why I could really do with my mobile/cell phone.

Well I had to go out this afternoon to do some bills and stuff and this morning I turned on the central heating and hot water, it's all on timed.  It was ok and the noise had gone.  But on arriving home and washing up a few dishes, the water was cold and well, I have to try and get them tomorrow but the don't do weekends.  My sister rang me and is going bring around a oil raditor for me to use.  I'll just have to have lots of hot drinks.  I have two blankets and three layers of clothing on right now, so for the moment I'm not too cold but I can feel it getting colder now:(

I took her to the doctor today and they think it may have been a sudden drop in her blood pressure, she checked out pretty good at the doctors.  I don't want to leave her alone when I go to megacon, so I'm going to have one of my brothers stay here and keep an eye on her so that'll ease my mind when I'm gone.

Early this morning I had a computer crash! What a start into the day!

From now on I have no internet access except from my sister's pc once a week (on  the weekends). So, be patient with me, no further collages for a long time, I fear.

Well tomorrow I'm off to get a cell phone and I certainly am not looking forward to it! First of all I have no need of some space communicator to get in contact with NASA or some GPS, no bells and whistles for me, I don't need it. 'Sides I just do not want to expend the brain cells in a 47 page informational booklet on how to use it! All's I want is a simple phone, dial, ring, talk and JA! And not have to pay 47,000 dollars a month to have one either! OY VEY! Wish me luck!

This afternoon has been real crappy for me.  I try to do this jewellery kit and one the intructions are written by a idiot and not unstandable, two the damn filment thread will not go through the bead needle.  So I give up and try another, guess  what, that one had instructions you could not understand.

Then my cat meowing her head off for food, so feed her and then meows again, and the other one starts scatching with his claws, Oh hell I shout at him.  I'm on a short fuse.

Then to top all the damn central heating and hot water is not working.  I try for an hour to ring for a boiler/enegineer man to come out and told I have to wait two hours, noticing in his voice that he'd rather not come to me as he is in another part of the world.  Well that's his problem not mine.  He's paid to go out on call.  What do they think I pay my insurance for.

I'm glad I did not give the eletric fan heater back to my very kind neighbours, as I'm using it now.  I wonder what else is going happened, oh and my personnel water works are up the sprout and I can't seem to stop peeing.:(

He's been and gone.  Thankfully I did not have to wait two hours but he has not fixed it because it needs a pipe replaced and so he told me he'd put on his report that I'm disabled and on my own and could they come tomorrow.  I hope so as Thursday I've got that hospital appointment and I can't miss that.

He said what the young lad had done had onthing to do with what is wrong with it, so I was right.

Anyway wish me luck.

Wish me luck pps, as the boiler man had been and gone.  I now have heating and hopeful hot water soon.

I've been without this for two and half days now.  Last night it got real cold and then started to snow and it's still doing.  I was rather worried that my pipes might freeze but I'm told they are ok.

Boiler man got come back because part of my immersation heater part is broken and I also need a new jacket for it.   So I hope now, he had finally found out what the problem was and fixed, but you never know.

So now all I got worry about is how my sister is going get here in all this snow from her workplace to here and then to London neuro hospital.  I've got see the Brain surgeon about my op, which I'm not looking forward too.

Nobody's having the best time right at the moment, it seems.... hope things work out for everyone.

As for me, I've been working 12-16 hours a day because we've got a really big inspection on this year & everyone is panicking like it's the end of the world... then I've been in bed with bronchitis for a week & my bloody laptop is playing up & won't play some of my Lexx DVDs!  (Put it this way, it's 18 months old & I've worn some of the lettering off the keys!) When I get back to work, I'll be even more behind, so no let up on the hours... there's no one to cover my stuff & they just keep giving me more.. so I won't be around much for a while.:(:widdsch:

If I don't get back here before you all go to the con, have a lovely time & give them all my best... I wish I could be there - but I will enjoy the reports & photos..:D

Aww, man, sorry to hear you've been so ill and to top it off have to live at work too.  I hope your computer son can fix your laptop so you can watch your Lexx DVD's.  I'll say a special hello to the cast from you at the con!

I'm doing alright. Very tired though! Think me and the beloved are coming down with something! He's always the first to catch something and I always get it too :(

Hopefully I'll be full of energy and life tomorrow! We'll see.

I must say, I like the look of this place - it's Lexx Heaven - a place, until now, I thought didn't exist.

OY...I'm home today with an upset tummy..woke up at 2:30am in the grips of a stomach ache and didn't hardly get any sleep. I cannot go to work like this, dizzy head and whatnot so I made an executive decision to stay home and get some more zzzz's.

Sorry to hear you're both not up to par and feeling unwell.  I had to go back to work today, still have nothing unpacked, have to get groceries, pay bills, all that lovely stuff, and am still worn out.

awwww sorry to read you're not feeling all that well yourself! Take care..I'm having some dry toast and chamomile tea to help settle my stomach. I've no idea what brought this on! I didn't eat out, only made dinner at home but lately I've noticed when I eat beans it's not agreeing with me. I make my beans, spanish style, with sofrito and tomato sauce, I'm thinking it's the tomato sauce that is causing me problems. Well I'll keep a light diet for the next few days. It's just that I don't like having a dizzy head and then getting on the subway, the two just don't mix!

Will need a couple of days to manage my mails, the groups and boards. After that I'll be back ;-)

Two weeks before the convention, I did everything I could to avoid getting a cold as the person in my house was sick with one......I was fine until I got back to work, now I have chills and a very stuffy and foggy head, am heading home this afternoon.  *achoo*:1097:

Thanks guys.  Still not feeling well, but am attempting to go into work today (changed my mind and am staying home another day).  I'm very worried now about the weather, we got an inch an a half of hard snow with sleet, and are getting another 6 - 9 inches today and more overnight and tomorrow, we may end up with 18 inches before it's all done.

Most definitely have had days like that, DFG.

Am still sick, but called into work and surpisingly in the 5 years of this company that I've worked for they've never closed the doors because of bad weather, I call in and get an emergency message that they are closed, and that they had closed early yesterday!  I am so happy! YAY!  What that means to me is that they'll hopefully give me a snow day today that they pay for, so I don't have to use a vacation day again.  It's still snowing and it has drifted so badly.  There are snow drifts as high as the hood of my car.  I'm hoping to be shoveled out by tomorrow if I can get a brother to come over and help, I can't go out much now cause I'm still sick, this damn blowing wind doesn't help much either.  We got around 20 inches on top of the 14 inches we got last weekend.  We didn't get much snow this whole season then it decides to dump on us all at once, ah well, that's winter for ya.

Hell, shit that's real bad Angel sorry to hear your sick with a cold.  I hope your brother is not my ones and say they are going help and then don't turn up.  Well you know of course to stay wrapped up.  I hope too that your mum is ok.

Lets all hope your snow melts soon.  Oh btw I saw your snowed in photo's in the weather thread.  Yeah I hope your firm will give you the snow day too, as no one likes to take sick time off even when you have too.

Take care now

I called into work again about 20 minutes before they opened and they had taken the snow emergency message off and were opening, only two people had made it in.  I really hate my company.  I can't get out so I'll have to use another vacation day today.

WHAT A DAY FROM HELL! I work at a technical support call center. The daylight savings program that the engineers developed to automatichally make the time change last night DIDN'T WORK. Sooo, we are swamped with calls from unhappy customers who's phones and computers are showing the wrong time. Not a big deal you might think, but some customers use automated announcements when you call their store and because the time is wrong, the announcement said the store is closed when in fact it's open. Also come call centers aren't getting calls until an hour after they are open and will stil be getting calls an hour after the employees leave if the problem isn't fixed in the next few hours. OY! I can't wait till my shift is over today!

I swapped shifts with a co-worker who needed today off (he and his wife had cruise tickets and he couldn't get today off as a vacation day). So I'm working a shift that starts 2 1/2 hours earlier than my usual start time. UG! Thank Gawd for chocolate covered coffee beans!

Jerhume!  How did I miss your post, eh?  I've been dragged through the fractal core here too lately in the work zone and just wish for a respite on planet orgasmos or nimbus 9 with a dead man cabana boy and a protoblood cocktail.

Sometimes you just have to stop mid-stream, take a deep breath and admire the flowers around you and today that's just what I did. Took the mater to Rockefeller Center to see the New York Orchid exhibition and oh my dears what beauty unfolded before my eyes..every color of the rainbow! Creations dreamt of by those with hearts and eyes who simply adore the orchid. Would you believe there's even one species with a scent of chocolate? It's true you know, I inhaled it and was marveled by not only it's beauty but it's perfume..enticing, entrancing and simply delectable..I was graced by mother nature today and am thankful..my favorite? Catteleya..and here's an example.

Goofd Grief! I had to carefully pick my way past a couple Canadian geese to get into the building this morning. They were standing in fromt of the revolving door admiring their reflection in the glass. One of them started hissing at me when I approached the door and I thought I was gonna get attacked. But she just glared and hissed softly at me and let me pass. :fear2:

Today is my mom's 72nd birthday and since I work but a few blocks away from the flower market, every year I seek out the gardenia flower. They come three in a white box and cost around $15 dollars. Worth every penny for the scent alone and lasts about a week. I keep them in a shallow, heavy crystal dish and float them on top with water. At night their perfume fills the air, heavenly my darlings just pure heaven..

okay just got back from the doctah and he confirmed my bites are from a spider. Not just any little old spider but as he put it 'one big old sonofabitch.' Using a magnifying glass and gauging the space between fang marks he said, 'yup a big un!' So he put me on pencillin, gave me a strong cream to rub in, as he'd rather I not scratch it! ugh..as if, I said, it itches something horrid. He said put an ice pack on it and DON'T SCRATCH! oy..my life is like a soap opera sometimes..the drama...the drama!!

Hi everyone!!

Hee hee hee, I've just managed to use the phrase "it's not rocket surgery" in a very big & serious meeting at work, wall to wall suits - & it's in the minutes!

Ketana, you are beyond brave. If I got told a monster spider had bitten me in my sleep & it wasn't located & destroyed, I'd move out of my house!!

I've decided to go to the doctors and ask for a few tests - this has to stop - not getting much done and it's very draining - oh well :|

Along comes a spider....

You´re sure you haven´t gotten any parcel from Michael? I mean....wasn´t he bitten by a spider too? Seems you have a lot in common *lol*

Hope you get well soon! Better a nasty old big spider than a young small Black Widow......

Well I'm happy, I've lost 14 lbs I think since I went to megacon, cause that's the last time I got on a scale.  Maybe this'll be the motivation I need to lose the rest!  I've cut back on a few things and wow, what a difference that little bit makes.

I don't know what's up. But earlier on today I tried loads of time to get into Lexxverse, Yahoo groups but nothing happened. Yet I could get into other websites, strange that.

I invested by disabling my firewall and doing scans but nothing changed. This is the third day it has been happening. I'm glad I have more then two email addy's.

Problems, I hate them.

Hey I replied yesterday and it's not here! Congrats to Angel and some smart ass comment about finding y'all here ... in the universe of evil, chaos and depravity, wink wink. Oh well, I'm back and I'm radioactive. No foolin'. I had a nuclear stress test on Wednesday and when I left they told me that and gave me this card to carry with me in case I travel anywhere that says what I had and where and what they gave me. Scary huh?

so today I had to get up at 6:30am and if anybody who knows me knows I HATE GETTING UP EARLY ON A SATURDAY! but being a dutiful lioness and knowing this is for my benefit I make the supreme sacrifice and get up, but of course being just a tiny bit obstinate I stayed up late friday night to watch my favorite show. Most Haunted on the travel channel cause last night they were live for seven hours trying to find ghosties at the Philadelphia Penitentiary. I love this stupid show. I couldn't stay up until 3am cause I kinda passed out around 1am..LOL..anyhoo here I am bleary eyed at 6:30 and taking a nice shower to wake my ass up. Done deal. Taxi came picked us up and took us over to the lab where I spent 3 frigging long hours in a very comprehensive test. 47 vials of blood, a tub of urine *didn't know I could pee so much carajo!* and three bazillion questions later we got out of there! Now I haven't eaten or taken any liquids since 7pm the night before and lemme tell ya I was RAVENOUS!! So what's a she-cat to do? YUP..TAAAAXXXXIIIII!!!! :D 'take me to the Georgia Peach Diner ASAP!' Tires squealing we got there in record time and I was immediately seated at a booth and huge menu in hand, coffee cup brimming, me salivating, I ordered WAFFLES!!! wooohoooo..damn good stuff I tell ya! I gots me the lumberjack special..as if I knew what lumberjacks do..sheesh..anyhoo..I was soon stuffing my face and belching..lady like mind ya! Not at all like a lumberjack..hehehe..then headed home..mile walk..helps with the digestion of waffles, I tell ya..buwahahahahahahahaha..nice day..nice day after all...WAFFLES make such a difference..:D

What is is about the word 'lumberjack' that brings to mind visions of Brian Downey strutting around his hotel room singing "The Lumberjack Song"!:d020a:

My medical coding course will finish in August. By then things should be soring themselves out with work. My philosophy at this ppoint is to ride the wave as long as it lasts, but I've already picked out my lifeboat in case the ship starts to sink.

I know you've been working hard on that course, congrats, and good luck, chessie!

I got very highly complimented today by the 3 main managers for a follow up I did on a huge order that has been a pain in the ass.  So one of the managers gave me one of the parking spots in front of the building for the month of June.

I got some good news I wish to share about my niece. She's just done her first movie, only a indenpent movie and she had a small part in it. It's a horror film but for the life of me I can't remember the title of it. It will probably be shown on tv.

Would you believe some one is trying to get funds for a musical version of Lord Of The Rings and my niece a couple of days ago went to a party and had all the costume and ears on. My niece one of the hobbits.

Oh man I've got sit through a whole musical version of LOTR to watch my niece.

A musical 'Lord Of The Rings' might be kinda cool, but a helluva big production:shock:  Best of luck to your niece:D

BWAHAHAHAHA! I found a nice, abandoned high back office chair that I plan on 'acquiring' tomorrow on my break while not many people are here and no one is paying attention. A new chair would be nice.

Right I've got my information wrong my niece is not in the LOTR play, she only did a day in full makeup as a hobbit to promote the play. Oh well I expect she will be getting more work hopefully soon.

I hope your neices acting career takes off, DFG and Chessie, good luck on comandeering that chair! I'm trying to cool off over here, the dewpoint is 68, that's frickin' tropical! We've had nothing but 90's for the highs this week, it's sooo freaking hot!

DANG! I nearly got mowed over by a squirrel on my way home from the bus stop! I was comming up some wooden steps by the comples swimming pool and this squirrel went zooming past me at eye level not more than 2 feet in front of me! He obviously didn't see me comming because when I got to the sidewalk at the top of the steps the little guy froze in his tracks and then decided his best chance for escape was to climb the rod iron fence around the swimming pool! Bad choice. He took a jump part way up one of the verticle bars but it was too slick for him to get a good hold. So the little twirp ended sliding all the way back to the ground handing onto the iron bar. LOL Luckily there are bushes around the fenceline so he was able to hide while I walked away (after laughing at him)

LOL, Chesh, that's funny.  There's an albino squirrel in my neighborhood and he's so cute, I see him running around every once in awhile when I'm driving to work.

Whoopee, we're going to Scotland for a week!      :bounce_pinka:      Work will pile up into something resembling the Empire State building, but who cares?

And it is one of the remaining places where our native red squirrel lives, so cute.

See ya in a while...xx

You know when you find out someone in your life dies, it seems like everything just stops, because you're in such shock.  I just found out tonight that my Uncle Frank died from pancreatic cancer, he was 73 and he only found out a few weeks ago that he had the cancer and it was too late, he passed away this afternoon.  He was my Dad's youngest brother and out of 14 kids there is only one left living on that side of the family.  He is survived by his wife and 8 children and many grandchildren.  I know you're with your brother, my Father, up in Heaven Uncle Frank.  God speed to thy glory.  :089:

Hi, I'm back! Scotland is heaven... the weather was great, considering thatit was pissing down everywhere  in England. My house didn't get flooded, thank goodness. Some of my friends weren't so lucky.  I did take some photos, Angel. I'll have a go at posting some... this is on the road up to our cottage, with the Old Man & the dogs

(Hope it's not too big? I don't know how to reduce it)

OMG! I just got this email from my friend Vicki who retired from the company I work for and then went to work for another company.

I was hired in as a temporary, with the understanding I would be permanent by mid August. My second day on the job, the legal dept. told my boss she had not fired the previous person properly, so she had to bring her back to that job. Also, my second day on the job, when I arrived at work to use my key card, there were armed gaurds everywhere (one told me they were there because there were disgruntled employees that had been fired.) Management seemed to be wielding an ax around there and the employees were not that happy!!!
Tomorrow I am job hunting again.

I'd quit too if I were her! :flucht01:

It's like a who's who of Brit actors; they must be fighting to get on it (including the divine & droolworthy Rickman)

I have got to see this film, maybe I will when I go to Chicago in a couple of weeks.  I'm not a Harry Potter fan, but I do like the films.

I've neglected this place for too long...
Anyway - in the meantime I've managed to FINALLY finish my BA studies... Took me 7 effing years, but finally, the quest for BA degree is done, I've received some experience points & a diploma and I can move on to other things (MA studies I suppose)...:-]

Oooh, yes - rotting happily ever after - sure it did help...;-) It helped me gain some 3 or 4 credits and 3 or 4 credits often do make a difference...;-) What more, it helped me in getting an A for that course...;-) It was certainly the best line in the story...

A permanent student? LOL - I thought I already was one...:-) But seriously - I hope to finish the MA studies within 2 years. Studying has become a bit too expensive for me...

Maya: Well, the trouble was that first three years were no work at all. For me anyway, as I simply didn't try to work hard (or to work at all ;-))...

I had to change my approach dramatically and to start all over again... That's why the whole thing took so long... Ah, well... I've already learned that procrastination must have some limits...;-)

First off, a bit about the Celtic languages... I'm learning Scottish Gaelic, which is closely related to Irish, but not the same. If you want to know what it sounds like, you can listen to it on internet radio. Scottish Gaelic Radio Irish Radio.

The languages that still survive in the other branch of the Celtic languages are Welsh and Breton.

Last night, I went to a Runrig concert with a friend and we got to go backstage after the concert. The concert was great, we both enjoyed it very much! I'd venture to say my new hiking boots are all broken in now :D Willow isn't the type to dance and sing, but he told me he enjoyed it very much, in spite of the aching feet and ringing in his ears!

The invite wasn't to the party itself, but to an area right before that, and they all came out and talked to us a bit and signed stuff for us. They are all really very kind people. I brought the picture that came with the fanclub package to have them sign it. Malcolm (the guitarist, he also plays the pipes and the accordion) was the first to ask me if I wanted to get anything signed. I started with a picture a friend of mine wanted to have signed specifically by him. I had to get it out of my backpack and I had to keep rooting around for the pen which was hiding among all the other crap I had in there. A string of Portuguese curses helped me with that - it's pracitcal to know a couple of languages sometimes, so I didn't have to give anybody a taste of my foul mouth. :P

Willow didn't have anything to get signed, but I took a picture of him with Malky. We should be better prepared next time... I got one with Rory (the bass guitarist). Sadly, the camera dutifully focused the background on both of them, because I forgot to set the camera to portrait mode :( Live and learn... I just don't take pictures of people often enough.

When Calum & Rory (the two remaining founding members and Gaelic native speakers) came by I said "Feasgar math" (good evening) and they switched to Gaelic instantly. It was great fun putting the language to real use for the first time! Of course, I talk to people on the learner forums and sometimes on Skype, but it's not the same as meeting a native speaker in the flesh and actually communicating! After I let Rory out of my clutches, Brian (the keyboarder) had already gone back in, and there I was short one signature! So I was kinda looking around for somebody who could help me get it. The security guard was busy talking on his walkie talkie, so no help to be gotten there. Rory was about to go back in and I managed to communicate my problem to him - in Gaelic! So we craned our necks and looked around for Brian and saw him inside engaged in conversation. Rory said sorry, maybe next time, but as we were about to leave, Brian actually came back out again, so Rory must have given him a hint. Now my set of signatures is complete! I'm usually not an autograph hunter, but that's what you do in this kind of situation, and having one missing went against my sense of aesthetics :P

Thanks to Willow for holding stuff for me when I had to fiddle around with my camera :s010a:

That sounded like so much fun, NCT. I know how to say shit in a few languages, that's as far as my swearing has gotten. I think it's always a challenge as an adult to learn a new language, especially one as hard as gaelic, and that's great you had the opportunity to use it live with another person. If you get a chance, put up a few pics of your concert adventures.

Most of the pics are crap - I was just too far away from the stage. And I didn't take a lot of them, since I was in first row last year and gorged myself - here's some samples, open air in Sønderborg, Denmark. Great location, it's a natural amphitheatre and they have unhewn stones as a stage front - and no barriers! Very practical, as we could just dump our jackets and drinks & stuff :D

Yep, that's my feet

Yep, that's a pipe

Today I went to see the Dalai Lama speak, so this was quite a weekend! Now I'm dosing myself with Lapacho tea because I can't sleep - too much adrenaline *sigh*

In other news - I just got an e-mail from the friend I recently converted, and she gave me permission to quote it here - your predictions were spot on! :c030a:

The subject is simply "Kai" :ohoh:

P.S. some Portuguese cursewords for Angel:

carraças - literally "ticks". euphemism for caralho = dick.

vai pro carraças - literally "go to ticks", euphemism for vai pro caralho. In other words: Eat shit and die.

foda-se = fuck. se is the 3rd person reflexive pronoun.

vai te foder = go fuck yourself

Want a pronunciation tutorial on those? :P

I'm fluent in German, English, and Portuguese. I have a bit of French and I hope to be fluent in Gaelic by the end of next year. I had planned for it to be by the end for this year, but I don't have a teacher and I didn't do a lot during the last months, so I won't meet the mark and I'll need a third year. It actually turned out to be beneficial to have a little break, because then I went back to some old recordings and noticed some things on my accent that I then went on to improve. So far, I'm only fluent in Gaelic smalltalk, for anything more complicated I still need to check my grammar books & dictionaries.

The first thing I always do when I learn a new language is to make my accent as good as possible. Too often, language instruction puts emphasis on the grammar first and vocabulary second. In the end you'll be able to write perfectly constructed sentences, but when you open your mouth, even if you find the right vocabulary people will have trouble understanding you. So, while my grammar was certainly less than perfect (I didn't even think about it, getting the right vocabulary in was more important), they understood me without any trouble. I only had to rephrase a sentence once! And I also understood them, because I also listen to the language a lot on internet radio. Of course, grammar is important too, but you can't do everything perfectly at once.

I sometimes think a language class might be good for me, just for the regularity and to have somebody that can correct my mistakes. On the other hand, I now have full control over what I learn and when I learn it to adjust my personal needs, and I can always communicate with other learners and the odd native speaker on the inet. Every language learner is different!

I only know a very little German. When I was about 12, we had a student teacher that was going to be an exchange teacher in Germany. She brought in some of her language recordings and taught us a few phrases and words. I still remember the lyrics to Silent Night and Winter Wonderland in German tho.

I have a lot of German in me, well not anymore I just sent him home.  J/K

I do have alot of German ancestry and Czech, a little bit of Polish and Austrian.  I'm quite the slavic slut.  My Mother spoke German until she was 6 years old, then when she went to school she had to learn English, though she was born here, as were her parents, it was her Grandparents that came over from 'the old country',  Germany and Austria and they all spoke German in the household, she can remember a few words here and there, and I only know a few words.  It's kind of sad that that part of my heritage is gone, I just don't have the time and patience to learn the language.

I guess the biggest German-speaking community left in the US are the Amish people. I'm not sure though, because somebody told me there are quite a few German speakers in Texas too. I've never really researched my native language.

All my nieces and nephews will grow up bilingually, I am so not envious :D

Yeah, alot of Germans settled in Texas and alot where I am as well. I think my state can be much like the climate of Germany so maybe that's why many settled here too. Sometimes I wonder what in the hell were they thinking, LOL! English is taught from little up in the German school system now is it not? I've also spoken to alot of Germans that know a bit of french too.

There is/was a large German speaking community in North Dakota as well. My sister-in-law's family is German and many of their relatives still live in North Dakota. As well as the parents of one of my neighbors from my early childhood.

I think public schools used to start with English in 5th grade, which is actually already too late for the first foreign language. I don't know what the situation is like at the moment. I was lucky and started learning from 1st grade. My Gaelic now wouldn't be as good already as it is if I hadn't started with my first foreign language so early, and neither would my Portuguese. I had French too, but it's not very good, since we were only doing grammar *sigh*

I remember from my semester in the US that most people would start with their first foreign language in 10th grade. Then when they come over here as exchange students, they hardly know anything and everybody will just (mis-)use them to pratice their English *lol*

Wel I wish I was as accomplised as you were in languages, NCT. I can only speak a smattering of a couple languages. Spanish, some little French and some Cantonese. I can understand alot more French than I can speak and I can read some German and figure it out. I guess it's all that Latin I took in school, it gives you a basis for most European languages. :)

I consider it all part of the package! :bounce_pinka: Speaking of buggies we were hiking in the Yunque Rain Forest when I stopped by a particularly beautiful flower, ginger, the scent was heavenly when out of the corner of my eye I spotted the most beautiful beetle I have ever seen. The colors were astounding. Blues, greens, silver dots, even it's tiny little legs were iridescent with color! Absolutely stunning little buggie..

I know these iridescent bugs, and although I don't like beetles and have a fear of them strangely enough, they are still beauitful to look at. I've seen them in bug books.

I can sometimes hold ladybugs if I don't think to hard about them been beetles.

Oh I wish I had bought all of you pressies but my niece thought my wallet was her very own property! Little princess shopped at all the souvenir shops we spotted! I got nothing for myself except memories and a lot of belly laughs! My nephew Chris is a comedian!!! He had me in stitches the whole time! Oh I gotta tell you about the humongous neon green iguana that chased me on the beach! I'm telling you this sucker had to be at least four feet long and when I put my salami sandwich down to pick up a water bottle he appeared from under the bushes and sea grape and demanded my salami!!! I picked up my sandwich and took off running with this monster iguana after me..glad my family thought it was hysterical! Oh and guess what? Iguana's swim!!

sheesh.

lost my sandwich in the ocean and last I saw was the iguana with said sandwich and slapping his tail..

Chicago is actually pronounced chick(like a guy calling a girl a chick) kaw go, which translated from the indians means 'land of the smelly onion'. I knew I shoulda used deodorant, dang. Anyway, I took some piccies of my adventures and will share all the boring details as soon as I have them loaded.

That is a beautiful place...you sure you didn't just rip those pics out of a magazine?  Places like that just seem too pretty to be real.

awwww my sweet catcharm but in this world there are pockets of true beauty and my Puerto Rico is one of them, yes they may look like picture postcards but then where do you think picture postcards come from? Honestly these are pictures taken of the hotel El Conquistador in Fajardo, PR and a few beaches along the south east coast and the one with all the greenery is el Yunque Rain Forest another fantasy come true...

I think the iguana is rather pretty. Too bad he chased after you.

I'm busy with preparations for my Scotland trip and might be a bit absent the following few weeks, just in case anybody wonders why I'm not on 24/7 anymore :P

That was the baby Lexx, i hope you didnt step on it.  Puerto Rico sounds wonderful, definitely on my list of places I hope to visit.  Nice pictures.  So where is the nude beach?

The nude beach was on the other side of Palomino Island..a private beach resort..

Yesterday I had the most glorious day ever! I spent the day at my sister Jane's home and they threw me a birthday celebration garden party. Decorations hung everywhere and the two tables she had set out were covered in yellow and pink polka dot tableclothes along with little candles in the shape of birthday cakes and bouquets of roses, scented naturally. Flowers everywhere, zinnia's in all colors and the ever rampant tomato plants and cucumbers! There was a very large pot of white gardenias in full bloom and the aroma drove me mad! I adore gardenias. For lunch we had sausage, onions and peppers on garlic bread, can I tell you it was delicious? IT WAS! Along with my world famous potato salad because my sister loves it! We played party games and I have come to realize I am vicious when it comes to dominoes.buwahahahaha. Then for dinner we put 6! Yes SIX porterhouse steaks on the grill, creamed spinach, tomato salad Jane had made and it was heaven on earth! More of my potato salad, I think I made to much but funny how there was no leftovers! hummm..there were more side dishes but right now my brain goes blank, all I know is the tables were groaning and afterwards so were we! LOL..the crowning touch was the birthday cake and ice cream..got home very late after trying to catch lighting bugs..I didn't try very hard...as I loathe buuugs! What an absolutely beautiful day..beautiful..

Good luck with that Cesare, I need to do that too.  Did you quit cold, or are you using anything to help you quit?  I know it's tough, but since you've made it past the first couple of weeks keep on going, can only hope it gets easier.

They say the first year is the worst for ppl who give up smoking. It's worst for ppl who smoke alot then ppl who only smoke say like two a day.

I knew two different ppl who smoked and the causal smoker found it a lot easier to give up then the constant one. But also the factors of why you smoke comes into.

If you have a stressfull life or job or both, it will be hell for you.

Well best of luck Cesare and Angel.

Thanks, guys. I'll try to hold on.

Angel: I just got pissed off one day, I threw my pack of ciggys into the rubbish bin and that was about it. Six days later I bought some nicorette patches - used them for a week, didn't see much of a difference - so now I continue without any such "help". But of course, I have been consuming lots and lots of lollipops lately...;-) That's the best thing to overcome the worst crises...;-)

CatCharm if you go to this link http://www.simpsonsmovie.com and it will all explain you how to copy and paste the code in once you've finished making your one.  The only draw back is you have to register with them, like I did, as it would not allow me to just copy it to my hard drive for my photobucket pictures.

I think other than sitting in the dark on my birthday 2 years ago as a storm raged and the power went out and several trees went down, this has been another worst night of my life.  We had two major severe thunderstorms in a row with damaging winds, golf ball sized hail, tons of lightening and sheets of rain.  I hightail it over to my brother's house about 9 pm before the first storm hits because he has a basement and it'd be much safer over there.  His area got pelted for a very long time with hail, after it passed we went outside and checked all 4 cars in the driveway, and it's pitch black out, so we're out there with flashlights and as we're looking over the cars, my brother says, your whole back window is gone.  I was like WTF!  You're joking aren't you?  Tell me you're joking?  He was like, nope I'm not kidding, so I run over to my car and sure enough, the whole thing is gone, there's glass all over the back, all over the backseat and the floor, leaves and hail greeting me as I have a look over.  I couldn't tell if there's any other damage as it was too dark out.  So I leave my car there for the night and he drives us home.  I turn on the news, and they're talking about another big storm moving in quickly with winds up to 70 mph, I'm like geezus, could this get any worse?  So I call up my brother, and he comes and picks us up, and by the time he gets here, it's pouring down sheets of rain and wind.  By a miracle and a prayer we made it safely to his house, and it was bad out, you couldn't see in front of you on the freeway.  We wait it out and he drove us back after it had passed.  So I have a lot of phone calling to do in the morning to insurance companies and glass companies, and am currently carless, but my brother said he was taking off tomorrow, so he can pick me up so we can get the glass and leaves vacuumed up and hopefully I can get an insurance estimate and find an autoglass place that can install a new window, so wish me luck.  I'm so wound up right now over all the night's excitement, I hope I can get some sleep.

Yah it does. I'll be on the phone with the insurance company this morning hoping I can get an estimate on the damage, and the autoglass places about getting it replaced, no idea if they can do it today, and we have another storm coming through tomorrow. No idea yet if there's more damage to the vehicle as it was pretty dark last night when I was looking it over and spazzing. I just hope today's a better day.

Yah, we're all okay. It was just an exciting night. I got it squared away now with my insurance company and the auto glass repair shop, they're going to where my car is to replace the window this afternoon. I have no idea if I have any other damage to the car, my brother did say I may have some interior damage as it's very wet, he said he has dent damage to his car from the hail, I don't know yet if I do to mine, when I can get over there this afternoon to inspect it. I'm just thankful that everyone is okay and that it wasn't worse.

My Dad was taken to the hospital last night and is still there today. I just got off the phone with my Mom who said the doctors think he has a partial bowel obstruction. They aren't sure if they will need to do surgery yet or not. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will be ok and not need the surgery.

I've been gone so long, I won't even try to catch up with all that has been happening... so, hi everybody, I am back, travel report coming up once I get around to it :D

It was fabulous, although the concert was a mud fest. Good thing we turned up in full hillwalking gear! Then lots and tons of stuff to see in Glasgow, and after that some quieter but no less exhausting time walking through the Highland hills - and I even got to speak a bit of Gaelic!

I broke down and treated myself to an hour & a half massage Sunday. My back was really hurting and I hadn't been to the massage therapist for 6 months. I feel great and I can even stand up straight now! She also found a trigger point on my elbow that's relieved my wrist pain (I was beginning to think maybe I'd developed carpal tunnel syndrome).

No, nothing's improved, we're all in one big open space with other departments, so it's noiser, it's newer and we have nicer desks/cubes now, but to me it's been worse.

I locked myself out of the house this morning.:bigw::cryingsmiley: I had to wait for my roommate to get home from his workout to let me in, which meant spending and hour sitting on the landing instead of making my way to work. (Roomy isn't home when I get home from work) So after I got in & grabbed my keys, I races to the bus stop and managed to make it to my cubicl & log in with 16 seconds to spare!. To be honest, since I got to work, the day really hasn't improved. :tank:But at least now I can get into my house when I get home.

It never rains but it pours, If things have not been difficult enough for me in the past two weeks, I find today that some bastard has stolen my bank card and I spent all after noon ringing around to sort things out, including my bank.

Then I rush off to my local hospital for my 4.30 appointment only to find not only are they runing 45 minutes late but there's about 10 people in front of me and if I wait I'd just be rushed through or might not even been seen. Their excuse is there's only one Consultant in but I said even when there are two you still late.

The woman behind me, she had her original appointment at 2pm. So I was feeling so pissed and not very well I had to leave and get them to make me another appointment.

And they say the UK health service is getting better, like fuck it is not.

So now I have no card and have to wait ages for the new one to come. The thing that really pisses me off is I have three different programmes for my computer that are surposed to protect me from internet fraud.

For years I've been telling people it's quite safe as before now I've never had problems but now I'm not so sure.

Well this is a message to the person that stole my card. I
HOPE YOU ROT IN FUCKING HELL AND DAMN YOU.

Poor DFG, were they able to refund you the money that was taken out? I hope so, also you might want to use the phone if possible instead of online orders. I only use that when I absolutely have to. Hope it gets better. :c030a:

Dang, am so sorry to hear that DFG. I hope the bank has some protection for you for fraud and stolen card, most of them do, they won't make you responsible for the charges that weren't yours. Hope things are better for you now. *hugs*

That sucks!

And phoning instead whon't help you if they hack the credit card database. However, when ordering online make sure they give you an SSL connection, that's encrypted. Never send out your details by e-mail!

I was too tired after working on Friday to do much for my birthday.  My phone rang at 10 pm and it was a friend of mine from Vegas, he called to wish me a happy birthday and we talked for a couple of hours.  Last night I went out to a nice family dinner at my favorite mexican restaurant and then talked to some friends for awhile later last night, so it was a nice birthday weekend.

Sorry to hear about your card getting stolen. That really sucks. I hope your bank can track down the person who did it. Identity theves are the lowest of the low. Hope you get your new card soon and the you have better luck at your next doctor appointment.

What a crappy thing DFG - I certainly hope whoever it was gets boils.

They say that everything gets unsettled around the equinoxes, Chesh - maybe you're reacting to that..

As for me, the inspection starts next week - after that maybe I can get my life back :speechless2:

Whew! *sigh* I survived a trip to the dentist. I hate going to the dentist for several reasons.
1. I distinctly remember the last time I sat in the dentist chair. It took an hour and a half for the dentist to remove the remnants of my old bridge so he could replace it. He had to break it into 3 pieces to get it out!

2. I had braces when I was a kid. You kow, the old fashioned train tracks/tinsel teeth stuff that had to be cranked down a little tighter every 2 weeks.

3. I saw the movie Marathon Man. That's enough to keep even the bravest of sould out of a dentist chair for quite a while.

The good news is that I didn't need any fillings for anything, so I just had a good cleaning.

That's good news Cheshire.

Well an up date of whats happening with my bank and internet.  As you can see I'm still connected.  I don't wish to go into it all, as it's personnel but I'm still experincing problems.

I may have to change my bank, which for me is going be a right  pain in  the arse.

I've got a new keyboard as my old one has died on me and well it is a bloody pain to type with. I choose it because it glows in the dark and also is water and food proof, not that I have water at my keyboard, but you'd be surprised what crap gets into your keyboard over time.   It said it was soft  touch, but you have to really hit  the keys hard to get them to type and it take me ages just to type few words.  I could bloody scream.  I can't return it and ask for a refund because of my bank problems.

Hay I see I'm gone a few days  and this place is looking different, with the icon hand etc.   Cool or what.

Oh thats it, I can't type no more, my hand is killing me:(

If you're bank is really screwing up, then after it gets straightened out, you may want to do that, it can be a pain, but maybe you can find a more customer friendly one with better security.

I'm hangin' out waiting to find out what my next work schedule will be. After 9 years on the job, I'm still too low on the seniority list to have any idea what my schedule will be. I'm hoping to get a Saturday AND Sunday shift so I get weekend differential this time around. You don't get anything extra for working just Saturday like I do now.

Glad you got the schedule you wanted ... I know about horrible schedules. It is getting dark so quick now a days.  It isn't light when I get up anymore... or when I get off work.  Kinda creepy how that happens.

It's a 'catfood' weekend. I spent most of the weekend mixing 15 pounds of catfood & freezing it into litt single serving 'kitty cookies'.  :) 'What flavor?' you may ask, hamburger & mashed yam. One of their favorites. I :heartbeat: MY CATS

That's real dedication to your cats, Chessie.

Trollop had to have surgery yesterday for a tumour in his ear - I'm hoping it wasn't anything too sinister.  Last night he was very sorry for himself & lay most of the night with his head in my lap, with no tail wag.

He seems to be his usual jovial self this morning. phew.

Trollop developed a taste for fast food with his previous owner - he loves battered fish, pizza and especially curry! As I'm so relieved to have the old boy back on his feet, I'm going to make curry this weekend, with a dollop for Trollop....

It's been a good day. I've managed to hand in my essay on biblical vs. homeric narrative (in time) and first of the four films I've recently ordered arrived this afternoon (and it has proven to be well worth those 13 bucks)...

And I'm still not smoking. I have even managed without lollipops these past few weeks...

Hmm well cats will like and appreciate many foods which are toxic and harmful to them, especially foods us humans like, so be careful.  do some research or stick to formula cat food, without any additives from China.  For example cats love canned tuna fish, but it is harmful to them.  Also chocolate.  Instead of battered fish give them raw fish.  I have no idea about pizza or curry.  Curry is a rather broad and ambiguous category of food, with no real definition.  Is there coconut milk in it?  If you have extra, send it to me and ill send you some Iams dry cat food.:)

Trollop is actually a dog, Veyron, not a cat, but chocolate is very toxic to dogs as well.

Tuna fish is ok for cats as long as it's in spring water and not brine. Kai gets tuna once in a while.

My vet told me to cook the fish I give Fifi.

Well, it looks like I won't be around on the board so much during the day. My company has decided to crack down on peep on the internet during work time. I have a feeling with the new ownership, they are back to the 'downsizing thru dicipline' management style. (no stress there) So I'll have to watch my back and not be on the board much :(

Just mailed off a fat stack of query letters to various literary agencies (AGAIN!).  I'm a little more optimistic than usual this time around, because four of the nine queries I sent off are going to Canada.  Perhaps they'll actually appreciate my drivel in the land of Lexx.

Just came back from taking my gray kitty to the vet for a checkup. She's been hiding in the closet and crying lately. I found out that the vet thinks that she has lost most of her vision, she has a huge cavity in one tooth that will need to be pulled, and she may have thyroid problems since she lost almost a pound in the last year. I'll find out tomorrow what the results of her blood test are to see about the thyroid issues and she has an appointment next week to get her rottn tooth pulled. Hopefully I can get her feeling better and acting more like her cheerful self.

I brought Twilight home from the vet a couple hours ago. They pulled an infected lower canine, so I have pain meds to give her tomorrow. Hopefully she will be a happier cat. The vet still doesn't know why her liver and thyroid blood work was a bit abnormal, but he put her on steroids for some digestive issues and hopefully that will be all she needs. *crosses fingers*

Twilight seems to be feeling better today. At least she's not hiding in the closet and crying. Not eating yet because her mouth is still sore, but definitely doing better.

As for me...I GET TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY OFF SINCE I NORMALLY HAVE THURSDAY & FRIDAY OFF! So I end up with 4 days off next week. We'll be going to my parents house for Thanksgiving.

Hey I just found the book my Dad told me he was looking for yesterday! It's called "Blow All Ballast". It's the Story of the WWII submarine, the Squalus, that sank while doing dive tests. The sub had no power what so ever, so all the crew could do was wait to be rescued. The crew was finally rescued by tapping in morse code on the hull to communicate with rescue divers. Anyway, my Dad served on his first sub with one of the junior officers from the Squalus. He really wanted to read the book, but it's hard to find because it was published in 1941, BUT I SCORED A COPY FOR HIM!

That book sounds cool hope your dad likes it:)

Hey Chesh, hope Twilight is doing well. I had to leave my Beauty in the springs for a week, and i sure could have used her help. I checked up on things in the Pac NW and found rats in the house! Beauty is a pro mouser. I had to fend on my own and discarded the little bastard at a rest stop in the Cascade mountains...heh heh those mouse traps really work. At least Beauty would have made quick work of it without all the fuss.

As for giant spiders at your door...well they do harvest insects that are annoying, maybe you could be friends? I have had enough unexplained bites from insects or spiders however that i tend to delete all encountered, especially at home.:fear2: You can often stun most insects and spiders with windex spray...but for hornets use the nasty hornet spray...anyway windex kills house flys and makes for easy clean up, and will stun many other insects long enough to capture in a paper towel for mashing or flushing. Or i oculd loan you Beauty she eats bugs right out of the air...why do i waste money on cat food?:c030a:

Thanks for the windex suggestion Veyron. I'll try that. Twilight is doing much better. Do you have neighbors in the NW with cats? I know a lady who used to 'rent' out her cat for mousing services. Maybe you could work something out to keep the mice out of your house.

Well today has not been a very good day.  I heard this loud thump, clunk coming from the kitchen around 6:30 am this morning as I was getting ready for work, and my Mom didn't answer me, so I ran out there and she had fallen on the floor, fainted and had hit her head or her back against the cupboards, she was awake and asking me what happened.  I called an ambulance and had her taken to the hospital, where I've been all day.  They're keeping her for a day or two and running some tests, it could be a problem with her high blood pressure or the medicine causing her to faint or possibley a heart murmur, so it's been a very scary day today.  This is the second time she's fainted in the past few months, and I'm gone all day working, so it really worries me when she's alone all day, so keep her in your thoughts and prayers for me.

Thanks guys.  She hard cartorid artery surgery last week the day after her 82nd birthday.  There are some complications, she can't swallow right now the flap to her espohagus is paralyzed, and we don't know if it is because of the nerves or if she had a small stroke during surgery, which is a risk of the surgery.  They did a brain stem MRI on her yesterday to find out if it was from a stroke.  I should know those results today after I get to the hospital.  She also has some paralysis on the right side of her face/mouth and her tongue on that side, which is from the nerves which had to be basically moved aside during surgery.  The doctor says eventually they'll repair themselves.  I've been looking at nursing homes/rehab centers for short term rehab.  Right now she's on a feeding tube through her nose.  I've taken this week off work to get alot of these things done and it's been a very worrying and stressful time.

*hugs Angel* Hopefully your mom will continue to improve so she can come home soon. I know that nerves are the slowest tissue in the human body to heal, so it may take a bit of time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and you and your mom in my prayers.

Thanks for the hugs, they are much needed. One good thing we found out today is that she did not have a stroke, it's the nerve damage not allowing her to swallow. It's good news because the Doctor said the nerves repair themselves much faster than what a stroke would have. She may be released to short term rehab tomorrow if the doctor thinks she's stable enough. I've visited 4 of them and we've made a choice, plus I have many of her things packed up and ready to go. It's been an exhausting day, but it's a huge relief to find out it wasn't a stroke.

All good wishes for a speedy recovery to your mum, Angel.

The icons have gone peculiar & half of them haven't shown on screen, so I can't post a hug... I'll drink both your health, instead:beerchug:

OK, kitties went back to the vet Thursday afternoon. Twilight is doing ok in her new meds, so will keep up the treatment and hope it continues to work. Mu (pronounced mew 'long story, but that's what happens when you let a physicist name a cat') has been off her feed and cranky & yowling. So Mu went for a checkup and her usual steroid shot for her lymphoma. To make a long story short, she peed on the vet.:fear2: I suppose in her opinion he deserved it for squeezing her like that. *insert "Don't Squeeze the Charmin" here* (if you thought she was cranky b4....she really let him have it, he has to change his shirt) OY! never a dull moment arount these 2.

Kitties got their Christmas card from the vet today. It's the highlight of their year since their card comes laced with home grown catnip!  :cat01::ani-light1::ani-light1:

LOL, Chessie!! BK told me a story about when he was feeding his cats some catnip and the male cat was trying to hump the female cat (its sister) because it was going loopy, LOLOL! They're both fixed of course, but it was a funny story none-the-less.

Actually I've read the catnip is supposed to have that effect on male cats as they say it smell like a female cat on heat. I used to have a male cat in the past that was randy while on catnip. Also a friend of my, two of her cats are like.

Mu gets so wound up at first, that you don't dare get within paws reach! LOL She spins in circles, rolls in the stuff and hisses at her tail. Then she crashes so hard that not even Twilight licking the nip off her will wake her up. :D

I know!  I can't believe it's been almost a year since we've all seen each other.  I was just watching the Doctor Who Christmas ep - Voyage of the damned on you tube and it rocks!  So if you didn't get to see it head over there, it's in 8 parts, but well worth watching, very dramatic!

I'm adjusting to the idea that I'm living by myself for the first time in over 21 years.:( It's going to be an adjustment comming home to a house empty except for the cats. I think the hardest part will be not having someone to talk to.

Why are you all alone now Cheshire if that's not a stupid question?

I've been living on my own for just over 4 years, and it's not easy. On the 19th of December 2003 my dad went into hospital and never came home:( The cats only meow and well the mice don't say anything.

My siginificant other for the past couple decades left for Thailand this evening. Thailand is something he has wanted to do for several years, so I didn't want to stand i his way. Besides Angel has a point, there is one less person to clean up after and take care of since he didn't do anything in the line of housework, this will be more freedom for me. I'm just going through withdrawl while adjusting to the change. BTW why do you have mice when you also have cats? Are kitties being lazy:P

I've got wild woodmice that Kai brought in about a year and half ago.  At one point I had 12 of the in what used to be my pet rat Callisto's cage as it's huge.  She died back in 2002, so I use it for the mice.  I don't like any animal harmed so if I can save them from the cats jaws I will.  I have two humane mouse traps.  They catch mice without killing them.

I only have 4 mice now, as I let the rest go.  I kept these four as they all have things wrong with them due to the cat but they live a nice life.  They get fed all sorts of nice things.  They are cheap to feed unlike  my two fuzzy cats.  I keep them in what used to be my parents room which I also use as a laundary room.  It's the back bedroom.

Sorry to hear your
siginificant other left but in the long run you'll be better off.  I just hope he don't try and wein his way back into your life after bugging off to Thailand.

And Yeah I understand it takes time to adjust.  Take care now chessie.

I'm feeling much better this morning. I think it was just getting to me last night since it wasn't long since he walked out the door.

Anyway, it sounds like your Kai is as good at hunting mice as Mu used to be at hunting birds. She used to bring in birds to share with us and we would take them away from her and turn them loose outside. She would be really upset so we had to start giving her special goodies to take the place of not having a 'fresh birdie snack'. :c030a: These days she diesn't catch but one once in a great while. She is the 18 year old. She still loves to sit in the bedroom window and watch (and sometimes talk to) the birds in the maple tree just outside the wimdow.

Oh what a lovely story. We Fifi who used to belong to my late mum (btw she named her that) is now 13 old. I don't know how old Kai is as he turned up on my door step half straved and ill back in February 2003. We took him to the vet but he could not really tell me either. He gave a wide gap, said he was 3 to 6 years old. But no way was he 6. I've had cats all my life and I think now looking at him as a healthy heavy cat he's probably 6 yrs old now.

The oldest cat we ever had was part wild, and she lived to the ripe of old of 26. She was also a stray.

Well Fifi used to catch all sorts of things but she don't now but last year Kai brought in a life baby mouse and just sat there while Fifi played with it. I tried to recue it but the poor little thing hid behind my mum's wheelchair lift and the next day I found it in the hall dead:(

Ouch - root canal...

Been through that a couple of times - I was scared shitless, but actually - with local anesthesia it turned out to be almost fun. Though my dentist's sheer amazement at the length of my roots frightened me a bit, especially the sentence "gosh, I hope I'll never have to yank this one out"...;-)

Congrats to you and your son! It's always nice to hear some good news from fellow lexxians...:-)

Ohh what a week it's been! I came home from work Tues night to find a note posted on my door from building maintenance. The people directly under me reported a water leak in their unit and it appeared to be comming from my place! So I called maintenance right away and a guy came out and after checking around my water heater, roof & other plumbing, ended up sawing 3 holes in my laundry room wall to find the source of the leak. Just my luck, it was beyond the main shutoff valve so it was MY responsibility to get it fixed. Also that meant that I was liable for any water damage to the unit below me. :( UG! So I ended up spending Tuesday night looking for a plumber who could come out Wednesday to fix the leak. I did find someone (a really great guy who is very good at plumbing repairs), but that meant I have to burn a vacation day so I could be home on Wednesday to let him in.

Luckily there is no major damage in the unit below me beyond their carpet getting pretty wet, but that will dry up with no big issues. But now I have to call maintenance back to have them come fix the holes they put in my lanudry room wall.

That's a bummer Chessie, at least your homeowner's insurance should cover their damage less any deductibles, what what a pain. I had to go through that too last fall and had water damage to my house, it's not fun.

Angel, that's amazing, well done!

It was a blissful wedding... I can't post any photos or they'll kill me, but the bride (of course) was beautiful & once he'd got over his terror & stopped being green, the groom was handsome.

All his skate mates formed an arch out of skateboards when they came out of the building; no one knew they were going to do that & it was so funny!

Off down to Kent for a week....:)

Shit that's scary.   Quite high on the richter scale for the UK too.  I hope you don't have too much damage up there.  I think there was a earthquake last year in Folkstone, Kent.  The eppy centre was out to sea.

Wow Angel!

It´s great to hear that you´re loosing weight sooo fast! Cool....I wish that works for me too.

pooh.

Yeah, what´s going up with me currently!

Stressful life....

But well. We spent a wonderful holiday in the Dominican Republic at the beginning of the year to recover from all the shit last year. Solved a lot of problems between us and now we´re on the way to get my husband a job closer to where we live (he doesn´t want to drive three hours a day to work and back....understandable).

Yeah, and all the other stuff is hopefully on a better road by now. Last year I got another life-changing diagnosis. I got a hypofunction of the thyroid in connection with an immun mediated desease , called Hshimoto Thyreoiditis. It´s nothing life-endangering (fortunately) - I just have to take hormones (thyroid hormones) to get my hormone balance back - AND BE ABLE TO GET A CHILD. And this additionally to my other problems....jezus....last year was really horrible. But I´m on a good way. The thyroid values are going down and are close to the optimal value I need to start another try to get pregnant.

Another story that cost nerves...but I forgot how good you can feel when all your hormones are playing the role they should...no more walking through a fog....no more unknown strange pain, better concentration.....it´s really strange what a simple thyroid illness can do to your well-being.

I hope to get my weight down too. This desease also resulted into 8 kilo´s more on my ribs....grrrrrrrr.

All the best!!!

Oh that's scary, Jerhume!  I hope everyone is alright.  I can just picture all those books tumbling off those bookshelves.  I've never really  heard of earthquakes in England before, does it happen very often?  The world is changing that's for sure.

Thanks Aenea.

I'm so sorry to hear about your thyroid problem, I am glad to hear it got diagnosed and that it is being treated.  My sister-in-law has to take medication for hers too to manage it.  I wish you and your hubby a much better year and that we hear news of a blessed little one on the way.

Your doing really well:) Don't worry about not losing much every week. If you loose too much in one go you'll just put it back on.

I know this because I used to go to weight watchers once.

Took my Mu kitty to the vet again Monday for a checkup and well....she did it again. The vet was 'palpating' he abdomen when she opted to show her appreciation of his efforts by peeing on the exam table. *rolls eyes* At least this time she got the table and not the vet like last time. One of these days she'll teach him not to squeeze her like that!

Well least she peed, if she were Fifi, Fifi would of bitten his hand off. Poor kitty, I don't blame her peeing.

I hope she ok btw.

I had my first chiropractor visit this morning. I went to my friend Vickie's doctor. I embarrassed myself by yelping when he adjusted my neck. It crunched so loud it seemed like it should hurt. LOL

LOL!  Don't feel embarrassed.  I've been going to a chiropractor on and off for the last 23 years and sometimes I give a little yelp.  Sometimes you can feel really good after, I should go more often because I have alot of repetitive stress and don't go as much as I should.

I went out and splurged tonight and bought somethng with my tax refund!! A new living room chair! Yay! If you saw my old decrepit chair I've had the last 15 years then you'd understand. It cost a small fortune and won't be ready for a couple of months as it's being made, but I can wait, I'm excited!! Oy, it's sad when that's all it takes to excite me. *sigh*

On an even happier note my two girls are visiting each other in New York and I'm very sad I couldn't be with them, but Ketana and Maya are having alot of fun and are going to be pillaging their way through China town tomorrow. We gave each other hugs and kisses over the phone and it was so good to hear their voices together. Girls if you read this, know I luvs ya and miss ya and I'll be there pillaging New York in spirit with ya!

I've been an even naughtier Angel today, I went out and bought a new bed set.  *sees her tax refund seriously dwindle*

I haven't heard from the girls yet, but I will later tonight.  I hope the bail money I sent was enough.  Ahem....

Thanks to the weird world of technology, I managed to keep an AT&T building in Alabama from burning down from my desk in Denver. Just doing my job, working trouble tickets called in from phone systems, I picked up a ticket that the AT& T phone system in that building called in. I wasn't sure exactly what the problem was, it could have been something as simple as a power outage. I got the local help desk person to send a tech to the building to see if they had power and to see if I needed to send a tech out with replacement parts for the phone system (the office was closed on the weekend so no one was there). The tech found that the jack where the phone lines come into the building was on fire. He managed to get the fire out and replace the damaged jack. It's a good thing that I talked the help desk person into sending someone out because the fire would not have been detected until mch later. Cool huh :D

OoooO girls he was simply delicious! Tall and rather in very good shape and he had tousled blond hair and the deepest blue eyes that would put Maya's to shame!! So courteous and he spent 3 whole minutes talking to us..I melted I tell ya melted and he got on famously with my sister, kidding with her, because she told him she had been watching him all morning on the talk shows and she mentioned Regis Philbin who he then said was a small troll that he could pick up and toss him around..he signed my book and I fell in love!! Gordo you rock!!

WOO HOO! I got a new stove yesterday :bounce_pinka: (new to me anyway) It's only a year old, but it sure beats my old 26 year old one that some burners barely worked. I got it free plus a 26 inch chest freezer. They used to belong to my friend Vickie's ex-sister-in-law. When she let one of her houses go back to the bank, they took all the major appliances out first. I could have gotten her frig too, but it was to big to fit into my refrigerator space:(  But hey, I can't complain :s010a:

Nena!  My heart was in my throat last night when I talked to Maya and she had talked to your Mom and she said you were in the emergency room!  We figured it was probably a sprain by what you had told us earlier and we said some prayers for you!  So glad to hear it's not broken!  You LISTEN to the doctors this time Nena or you shall have to fear the wrath of the Angel!  STAY OFF YOUR FEET!  DON'T CAUES ANY TROUBLE and give it a chance to heal!  Glad you're home!  Talk to you at lunch!

MY FAMOUS FAMILY! My dad made the front page of his local newspaper in Loveland Colorado. They do a feature story on a veteran every 4th of July & on Memorial day. The paper did a story on him and his WWII 48 star flag.

He lost his dad when he was quite young and found my dad on line while he was looking for othe WWII navy vets that had served with his dad.

I got a call from Mom while I was at work and she's all worked up saying my brother called (the one that stops every nite), and said he was sick and she told him to call an ambulance.  Then he hung up.  So I called him, left him a message and he calls me back and says he has very bad stomach cramps and a high fever and that he had called the ambulance.  So I came home early and am waiting to hear what's going on.  He has a really bad hernia and I'm worried that it's possibly ruputured or causing some strangulation, not sure if that's it at this point or not.  Hanging by the phone now waiting to hear.

I waited until another brother got off work and he came over right away and we both went down to the hospital and were there until late last night. My other brother went into emergency surgery not long after he arrived at the hospital. It was his hernia, which had gotten so bad, his guts were hanging out for so long that they he had to have 20 to 25% of them taken out last night. He had blood clots down there and the Doctor said he almost died. He has to go into surgery again at 4 pm this afternoon and possibly have more intestines taken out. Basically his lower intestine was dead, not getting any blood flow and had blood clots. The doctor said the next few days are touch and go, I took today off and am going down again to the hospital later, and will probably make a couple trips back and forth there today. I'm still pretty exhausted, I couldn't get any sleep last night. I've been on the phone constantly with the rest of the family all last night too. So keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

I took my Mom to the hospital this morning to see him. He is stable and his color looked good, they are going to operate on him again to make sure they got all the dead intestine out. He was alert, but he couldn't talk because of the ventilator, but he could nod and write things down. I can only imagine the pain he's in, and hope he will get better, because last night was a close call.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your kind thoughts.

I just heard that he made it out of the second surgery okay and they got all the bad intestine in the first one. They're keeping him in ICU for at least another day and in the hospital for at least a week. They said he has enough large intestine left that he should be able to eat normally. So now he's in recovery and they'll be keeping a watch for infection.

Oh good.

My friends dad had this done, but he had cancer of the bowel and he lived for a long time after he had it done.

Wow, Angel how scary for you and your brother! Luckily your brother called your mom and she got him to call an ambulance. I know of people who wait way too long before they call for medical help. So, I hope he gets better very soon and you can get some rest.

That is true, Dutchabella, some people wait too long whether they're scared because they don't have insurance, or stubborn. The doctor said if he had waited any longer he wouldn't have made it.

He got out of the hospital on Thursday, so I brought him over to my house. He's just taking it easy for now. He has a couple of follow up appointments, and is still in pain, but thats to be expected for awhile. My sister just came over too late last night and she's staying for a week, so I have a very crowded house now.

Well it's been a very intense month.  My brother has been in the hospital twice with two major surgeries and one minor.  He's still recuperating at my house.  Nice thing is another brother offered him a place to live with him after he recuperates, so he will move out of the place he's been living in and hopefully his life will turn around.  He's on the mend albeit slowly, but that will come with time, it's been a very worry filled and stress filled time for all of us.

On the bright side after a house being a mess for a week, I finally got a new kitchen floor, sink and new front door put in and everything put back in place, so I'm happy to have some much needed renovations over and done with.  Now I just need to do a couple things with the living room and I'll be all done and happy to have this place looking more up to date.  So that's about it at the moment, life just keeps groovin' on.

I'm off to Loveland to spend 2 or 3 days with my parents. My friend Vickie is driving me and the cats up there this morning. Now if I can just find Mu. She hid as soon as I pulled out the cat carriers. She probably thinks we're going to the vet again. LOL She loves going to see my parents. My mom is sooo in love with that cat :D

Oh that sucks Angel. You should have a start up code like I do, that way only I can get into my computer.

When you get it wiped I suggest you have a start up code, then they'll be no family member fucking up your computer ever again.

That's what Maya says to do too. I took my puter in last night and they're going to have it fixed next Tuesday, I decided to buy a whole new hard drive and have that formatted. I have most of my stuff backed up from a year ago, so hopefully I won't be missing too much stuff. I'm not looking forward to re-downloading and reinstalling everything.

HI HONIES I'M HOME! Loveland was beautiful as always and seeing my parents was fantastic. They spoil me rotten. Tuesday we went to one of my favorite places, the glass blower's shop at Estes Park. Estes is a tourist town up in the mountains. I love going to watch the glass blower and see what new goodies they have for sale. They have a beautiful river walk on the bank of the Big Thompson River with cool little shops & restaurants all along the way. It was really nice to be somewhere that I could hear the sound of a rushing river again. Made me want to go fishing.
:D

Just for you Stephen King fans, I stopped along the way to snap a pic of the Stanley Hotel where 'The Shining' was filmed. BTW there really is a haunted room in the hotel. It's the most frequently requested room and is booked months in advance.

Needless to say I had a wonderful time and YES I did finally find the cat! Oh Ketana, Loveland is 50 miles north of Denver.

Wow, what beautiful scenery Chesh. Just seeing that hotel gives me the creeps, I definitely wouldn't want to stay in that room!

BTW not only did the bruddah fuck up my computer but he gave me his cold as well, yay.
